Marbella is another beautiful City located on the southern coastline of Spain on the Costa del Sol. After the City and Province of Malaga, Marbella is the second most populated area in the Andalucian region.
Marbella, Costa del Sol, Spain
Marbella is located some 60 km west of Malaga City, sandwiched between the popular tourism towns of Estepona and Fuengirola. Literally translated, Marbella means “Beautiful Sea” in the English language, this is fully justified by it’s idyllic setting on the Mediterranean coastline. Marbella occupies around 44 km of land and is surrounded by several mountain ranges which only add to it’s beauty. The Sierra Blanca mountain range is almost centrally located to the area and contains 3 peaks that loom over the City below, Mount Lastonar, La Concha and Juanar Cross.
Weather and Climate
The weather and climate in Marbella is excellent pretty much all year round with average temperatures of around 18 Celsius. This area is well know for it’s exceptional micro-climate which is aided by the Sierra Blanca mountains. The mountains act as a shield on the north side of the City which help to keep the bad weather fronts at bay. The summer months of June, July and August see the temperatures rise to between 24 – 29 Celsius, much cooler than some areas on the south eastern coastline. There is precious little rainfall throughout the summer months, the months more common for heavier rainfall are November along with the winter months of December, January and February.
